Dom Ski – a name chosen in homage to an older cousin who took him under his wing – has been honing his particular style of rap since the age of 12. Growing up in Virginia Beach, the same hometown shared by musical giants Pusha-T and Pharrell, rival neighborhood beef led to rap battles and disses spurred him to create music with friends. Eventually he began rapping on his own, slowly finding his style and flow. After losing friends to gun violence and incarceration, and even serving a brief stint himself, Ski knew he had to change his mindset. Since regaining his freedom, he’s decided to use his past experiences to provide what he calls “motivational street music”. His single “Chopsticks” quickly caught the eye of World Star Hip-Hop, and immediately made Ski one to watch. Eschewing the popular formula of rapping about trends and gimmicks for followers, Dom Ski raps about the realities of growing up in the streets. His most recent single, “Street Nigga”, is available to stream now
